Installing your planetarium is simple, quick, and easy. There are a few important tips and tricks, but I show you exactly how to go about the entire process on the Installing Your Planetarium DVD.
You first decide which sky you'd like to see. You can set your star projector to any date and any time. So, if you would like to see your child's exact time and date of birth, you just set the projector to show that view of the constellations. Or your wedding date, or Christmas, or whatever time and date is meaningful to you.
Then, you set the projector up in the room. Again, there are a few important tips to placing the projector, but I show you those too.
With the projector turned on and the room lights turned off, you get on a ladder and paint stars where the projector places them. Our Star-Brite paint is custom made for us. It is the brightest, longest lasting luminous paint available anywhere in the world - 25 times brighter than the glow in the dark paint sold in hobby stores, and five times brighter than most of the paint you can find on the Internet. It glows for more than 24 hours. This is important because to create a realistic planetarium, you need very small, bright stars, the opposite of those goofy stick-on stars.
We experimented with lots of different painting methods before finding one that is easy to use and that lets you make the proper size stars. You see, by making stars of different sizes you can give your planetarium a beautiful three dimensional effect and create stars that actually seem to twinkle. It's also important for distinguishing the constellation stars from the smaller stars. The installation DVD has closeups showing you how to create different types of stars, and you will also see me up on a ladder painting them.
For a very brief introduction to the installation process, check out the video below.
Once you're done, you can put away the projector forever, or your children can use it, along with the audio CD, to learn more about the stars. Your planetarium is now an invisible fixture in your home, at least until you turn off the lights. Then the stars appear!
For a list of the things you'll need that don't come with the kit, see the List of Items You will Need page. See the Safety page for a brief discussion of safety issues. If you have more questions, check out the FAQ page.
We're so confident that you will love your planetarium that we'll refund 100% of the purchase price if you aren't completely thrilled!
