Upcoming Star Seminars

  • GrapeVine Library, Saturday, November 29, 2008 at 2pm: Rick O'Hara will give an hour long presentation on the constellations of the Winter Sky and show you how to use a star chart and astronomer's flashlight. Next, we will pass out star charts and astronomer's flashlights to everyone, turn out the lights, and then all practice using the star chart to find the constellations in the library's planetarium.

  • Leonid Meteor Shower, Nov. 17-18, 2008: The Leonids are best known for their 33 year peaks during which literally hundreds of meteors appear per hour. The last of these peaks was in 2001

  • Geminid Meteor Shower, Dec. 13-14, 2008: The most reliable meteor shower of the year, the Geminids are characterized by a multi-colored display of not only white but also yellow, blue, red and green meteors.
